WHERE TO FIND

LAND OF CASTLES

The Segarra region is known for its rich concentration of medieval castles, often called the Land of Castles. This region, crossed by the Sió river, was a key point during the 11th and 12th centuries, when it formed the border between the Christian Catalan counties and the Arab Al-Andalus. This area, known as the "Marca Hispánica Superior", became a territory of constant conflicts, with a strong defensive need, which led to the construction of a large number of fortifications. Over time, the disappearance of the border transformed many of these castles into stately castles and, in some cases, Palau Castles, which became the center of feudal power until the 19th century. Today, most of these castles remain in good condition, and are a living witness to the history of the region and Catalonia. Through the Ruta dels Castells de la Segarra, you can discover the most emblematic castles and relive the medieval era. All these castles can be visited from the outside, while some of them allow visits to the interior, offering an even deeper immersion in the history and architecture of the area. From our rural house and farmhouse for rural tourism, you can enjoy a quiet walk to visit the majestic Castle-Palau de Montcortès, which is part of our farm and the Castle of Aranyó, two of the most imposing of the region. In addition, there are other historical fortifications a short distance away, which can be visited on a mountain bike route through paths that connect the castles, or by hiking or by car, to get closer to the cultural heritage of this unique land . These routes allow you to enjoy both the landscape and the history, combining nature and culture in an unforgettable experience. After an intense day discovering the history and beauty of La Segarra, you can relax in our Spa del Bosc area, which has a heated pool, hammam, sauna and Nordic bath. This wellness space is the ideal place to rest after a day on the road, recovering body and mind in an incomparable natural environment. In our rural house and rural tourism farmhouse Mas de l'Aranyó - Eco Wellness Spa, where we accept pets, we offer you an unforgettable stay, combining the historical richness of the Segarra castles with the comfort and relaxation of our wellness space. Discover the "Ruta dels Castells de la Segarra" and connect with history in an environment full of magic and authenticity.
